Storage Networking is technology that allows multiple servers to share data storage in a simple and scalable fashion. The majority of storage networking today uses Fibre Channel as the base protocol, with iSCSI beginning to make some inroads as well. This is VERY fast movement of data. Your home internet access, if you're really lucky, gives you 5 Mbps access to the interenet. Fibre Channel today is 1700 times faster than that!
